Photographs altered in MS paint.

Dan Hays

So I was initially drawn to this artist after stumbling upon a book featuring his paintings of guinea-pigs. Because I love guinea-pigs. Anyone who regularly spends any amount of time with me in real life will be aware of how overwhelming the percentage of time i spend talking about guinea-pigs is far greater than the percentage of time I spend talking about anything else.

Regardless. I can't remember the word I'm looking for. I think it starts with "s" and means something along the lines of "happy accident."

For now I will say that this joyously led me to discover his recreations of found digital images in oil paint. His website is fantastic and offers notes and detailed shots about most of his work.

I am incoherent and sleepy. This is less a blog post and more a reminder to self.
REMINDER TO SELF; Read Dan Hays website with more vigor at some point in the near future.

Fifteen dead paintbrushes and a drawing that hasn't been done yet.

Finally back in the studio. Its both exciting and terrifying. I have a very good feeling about this year, despite how much hard work it is going to take.

Photos were taken before leaving the studio on Friday. I had a fantastic weekend, catching up with old friends. I forgot how much fun I used to have with these people and hope we will make more of an effort to get together more often. It would be nice to think you don't have to outgrow all of your childhood friends.

I also spent time catching up with someone I hadn't seen in 4 days. It surprised me how much I grew to miss them within this time.

I'm going to head into the studio for a late night session tonight and will post more pictures of the happenings of it on my return.
